SO YOU DONT LIKE THE SMELL OF GARBAGE

We recognized having trashcans stored in the garage - yucky - - Smelled things up -- Bugs were in the garage to get that food

We thought: Let's add to the side of the house and put the trashcans there in a trashcan run?

We did it right - followed the Design Review Committee (DRC) process and obtained approval

Have a few challenges though

- The builder put the house in a place where it only has 5 foot of allowed space - the minimal required by Florida (or county)

- We had to hire someone to do it - the Author is too broken based on a 100% disability from the Veterans Administration to be doing this kind of work

- Unknown quantity - the neighbor

November 23, 2024: So the contractor we hired started and built this thing out more than the allowed 5 feet.  Not to worry though - my neighbor - he is all over it!  Sent me a text

NEIGHBOR text: "Good morning. I got home from a work trip last night and see your contractor for your pavers is way over the property line into our yard. I ran a string from the fence to the street light which is essentially exactly the line. He is going to have to rethink what is being done"

Response: "Spouse-Masked-Name already looked at that as well. Will get it corrected.  He framed it yesterday before it started raining, We'll ensure any grass is fixed too"

Done right?   NOPE!

So somewhere in December (early I think): HOA Manager and HOA management company employee come to the house.   Generally here is the conversation

HOA Manager: You are not within the property limits - you have 5 feet

Author: Okay, we will get that corrected.  How did this get to you

HOA Manager: Your neighbor called us on this concern

Author: Uh, okay.  I mean.  I could have solved this if he mentioned it to me - sorry you had to come out here for this.

HOA Manager: You also need to move your gate to the others side of your house.  He does not wish for you to step on his grass

Author: Uh, okay. Seriously? (I think this is just banter and a joke)

HOA Manager: yes, that is what he'd like

Author: Uh, well... I will get it straightened out

Issue resolved

I don't touch the grass, I put markers in the ground at the 5ft point (just short so there is no question) and we don't touch their grass.  I can respect that - even if the messaging method sucked.  They also don't talk to us - which is probably best.  I don't need to give them more INTEL to run us up the flag pole on some other HOA concern.
